Robin King

“Art unites us. Art brings everyone together. Artists are our Treasure.”

Introduced to art by her mother. It was fictional character Whitley Gilbert from the television show A Different World, that Robin knew she wanted to be an Art Curator.

 

She began her art journey at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) becoming first curator for their student art gallery. From NCCU she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and minor in Business Management. She then traveled to NYC where she received her Master of Arts Degree from The Fashion Institute of Technology specializing in Gallery Exhibition Arts Management/Art Market Studies.

Becoming the first Art Director at Carver Federal Savings Bank in Harlem. Under the leadership of President, Thomas L Clark and its Board of Directors, she built their art collection, curated art exhibitions and coordinated educational and community programs.

After 4 years with Carver Bank she went on to work with the best advertising company in the world, Ogilvy and Mather.

 

At Ogilvy she worked as an Executive Assistant on DuPont, American Express and IBM. Robin was able to use her Art Curating skills to work with Ogilvy’s D&I Professional Networks to celebrate Artists of Color.

Robin has worked at numerous art galleries, museums and art fairs. She is honored to have learned and worked with Art Don, Joseph Rowand. Museum Director, Norman Pendergraft and Gallery Owner, George Billis. But her biggest love is being a mother to her daughter Ella.
